Wayanad is situated on the fringe of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The whole area is totally green with sloping reaches and natural life incorporating Tholpetty in the North, Muthanga in the east circumscribing with Tamil Nadu, Kalpetta in the south, Mananthvadi in the north-west and Sultan Bathery (Sultan Battery) in the east. 


In the east one can find the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary which is a rich, forested locale with regions of high elevation, home to creatures including Asiatic elephants, tigers, panthers, and egrets. In the Ambukuthi Hills toward the south, one can find beautiful Wayanad attractions like Edakkal Caves which contain antiquated petroglyphs, some going back to the Neolithic age.  Loaded with charming waterfalls, caves, resorts, and homestays, this prominent town is renowned for its zest ranches and natural life.

An incredibly breathtaking example of Indo - Saracenic style of architecture, the Mysore Palace is a magnificent edifice located in Mysore in the state of Karnataka. Also known as the Amba Vilas Palace, it is the former palace of the royal family of Mysore and is still their official residence. Mysore Palace was built in the year 1912 for the 24th Ruler of the Wodeyar Dynasty and is counted amongst one of the biggest palaces in the country.



The construction of the Mysore Palace was orchestrated by the Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV referred as "Rajarishi" (saintly king) by Mahatma Gandhi. It was then further expanded by his son and the last Maharaja of Mysore, Maharaja Jayachamaraja Wadiyar. The facade of the palace is a harmonious blend of Hindu, Muslim, Rajput and Gothic styles which imparts it a regal quality. With the Chamundi Hills towards its eastern side, the spectacle of the Mysore Palace is an enchanting sight to behold. Needless to say, it is the second most visited historical monument visited by both local and foreign tourists after the Taj Mahal. Presently located inside the Old Fort, Mysore Palace is renowned for its light & sound show and vibrant Dussehra celebrations.

Picturesque, steep forested ravines and open moorland characterise the Aberdare National Park. The park provides a habitat for elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs and bushbucks among others. Rare sightings include those of the Giant Forest hog, bongo, golden cat, serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat and the blue duiker. Visitors can indulge in picnics, trout fishing in the rivers and camping in the moorlands. Bird viewing is rewarding, with over 250 species of birds in the park, including the Jackson's Francolin, Sparrow hawks, goshawks, eagles, sunbirds and plovers.

On the east and west, Gangtok has two streams, Roro Chu and Ranikhola, respectively which divide the drainage into eastern and western portions.  These streams eventually join the Teesta at Singtam. Gangtok, much like other hilly regions like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, has extremely steep roads with houses built on compacted ground along them.
