Located to the North of the Indus River on a hilltop, less than 20km from Leh town, Thiksey Monastery built in 1430 AD belongs to the Gelukpa Order of Buddhism. Lakhang Nyerma a Temple dedicated to Goddess Dorje Chenmo is within the Thiksey monastery. Apart from Lakhang Nyerma there are a few more shrines inside the monastery complex. Thiksey Gompa hosts the Gustor ritual, organized from the 17th to 19th day of September. Celebrated on an annual basis the sacred mask dance is also performed during the Gustor ritual. The Maitreya Buddha statue here is probably the most photographed statue of the Buddha of the future! The 15 m (49 ft) magnificent high statue took over 4 years to craft.

In the 15th Century, the founder of the Gelug School (“the Yellow Hats”), Je Tsongkhapa, sent six disciples to spread the message of his teachings in remotest areas of Tibet. As part of this exercise, one of his disciples instituted a little monastery in Stagmo. Nearly half a century later, it was decided to set up a bigger complex.

When performing the prayers at the place of the new monastery – some crows grabbed the Torma offerings, meant to be spread across the valley as peace offerings. Searching for the torma, the monks found it on the opposite side of the valley, placed perfectly in Thiksey. The name of the village, coincidently, means – a perfect order. Thus, the monastery was set up here and named the same as the village.

A gateway to the last Himalayan kingdom, Paro is the little town of Bhutan situated at the banks of the Paro (or Pa). Apart from holding its simplicity and blessing of the nature’s finest views, this town also shelters the ancient monasteries. Among these architectural treasures, Paro Taktsang monastery stands out for its incredible location and magnificent beauty.

It was first built in 1692 at a cave where Guru Rimpoche meditated in the 7th century A.D. Legend states that Guru Rimpoche flew to the site atop the back of a tigress and meditated in the cave for 3 years, 3 months, 3 days and 3 hours in order to subdue evil demons residing within it. The cave has been considered a sacred site ever since and many famous saints have travelled to meditate in it.

Taktsang Lhakhang is located approximately 10 km north of Paro town at an altitude of 3.120 m. In order to arrive at the temple visitors must trek for around 2-3 hours through beautiful, shady pine forests. No trip to Bhutan would be complete without a visit to this remarkable heritage site.

Eravikulam National Park situated along the summit of the Western Ghats in the high ranges of Idduki district of Kerala. This is also the land of "Neelakurinji", a flower that blooms once in twelve years. The Park is breathtakingly beautiful and is easily comparable to the best of mountain ranges in the Alps. With the highest peak south of the Himalayas – the Anamudi, located here, nature enthusiasts have ample opportunities for trekking expeditions and wildlife spotting.

The park which is also known as Rajamalai National Park was a hunting preserve for the British planters and was owned by Rajamalai and Eravikulam during the British rule and then was forked over to Kannan Deven Hills for tea plantation. Later the area was declared as sanctuary with an objective of protecting the indigenous population of Nilgiri Tahr (most endangered mountain goat) when founded in the year 1975 and was then upgraded as the national park in 1978.

The capital of the Czech Republic is one of the oldest city destinations in all of Europe. As early as the Middle Ages, traders and pilgrims praised the shimmering sandstone towers of "Golden Prague." Nowadays up to 30,000 people tread the well-known tourist paths through Staré Město, the Old Town.

Prague's history as a European trading settlement began with the fortification of the castle hill, Hradčany, in the year 916. What followed was the building of churches, monasteries, palaces and the famous Charles Bridge, with its saints' statues. It links the castle with the Old Town on the other bank of the Vltava. The Old Town Hall tower is considered a medieval highlight because of its astronomical clock. Every hour, on the hour, everyone on the square looks up when the clockwork figures of the twelve apostles appear.

Prague isn't known only as the "Golden City," but also as "Little Jerusalem." The Josefov, or Jewish quarter, is one of the oldest centers of Jewish culture in all Europe: with six synagogues, the Jewish Town Hall, on one of whose two clocks Hebrew numerals run counterclockwise, and the Old Jewish Cemetery, with its tightly packed gravestones.
