The Munich Oktoberfest (Munich Beerfest) is one of the most famous events and the world's largest fair. This years Oktoberfest will be no exception. With some six million people attending every year, it is an important part of Bavarian culture.

A raucous celebration of Bavarian culture, Munich's Oktoberfest is one of the world's oldest, biggest, and longest parties. Dating back to 1810, the event these days kicks off when the mayor taps the first keg at noon on the third Saturday of September. Some 6 million revelers spend the ensuing 16 days clinking and drinking 1-liter beer steins, eating sausages and doughy pretzels, and swooshing through the air aboard carnival rides. Technically a folk festival rather than a beer festival, Oktoberfest features plenty of merrymakers in traditional lederhosen and dirndl dresses belting out old Bavarian songs in giant tents and beer gardens. Regardless of attire, though, anyone is welcome to link arms and join the fun.

Varkala is a coastal town in the southern part of Kerala known for the unique 15m high 'Northern Cliff' adjacent to the Arabian Sea. It is popular for its hippie culture, shacks on the cliff serving great seafood and playing global music and the samadhi of Kerala's saint Sree Narayana Guru. Varkala is also known for Jardana Swami Temple, also known as Dakshin Kashi.

Varkala has some of the best pristine beaches, hills, lakes, forts, lighthouses, natural fisheries and springs - all of this together makes this town a little paradise. You will also find a lot of shops with signboards in Hebrew selling Yoga mats, oxidised silver jewellery and harem pants made of cotton. Ayurvedic spas, affordable resorts, hostels, clean beaches make it a must-visit city of Kerala.

Varkala’s peaceful seaside cliffs adjoin the Arabian Sea, setting the scene for several water spouts and wellness spas. The waters lapping at Papanasam beach are considered to have holy, sin-cleansing properties, and the nearby Ayurveda treatment centre will cleanse what the ocean missed.

Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changgu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometers from Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m (12,313 ft), the lake remains frozen during the winter season.

The lake surface reflects different colors with changes of seasons and is held in great reverence by the local Sikkimese people. Buddhist monks prognosticated after studying the changing colors of the lake.   The lake is surrounded by steep mountains which are covered with snow during winter. During summer the snow cover melts and forms the source for the lake.

Tsomgo Lake is related to many myths and stories. The Sikkimese regard the lake as holy. In ancient times, Buddhists would study the colour of the lake ‘s water to predict the future. The lake is also of huge importance to the Jhakris (faith healers) of Sikkim. They gather here on Guru Purnima every year to offer their prayers.

Beautiful Hoi An is the most atmospheric city in Vietnam, with bags of surviving historic architecture. The old town quarter is a joy to explore, packed to the brim with well-preserved merchant houses that hark back to Hoi An's trading center heyday of the 15th century, when the town was a major meeting point for Japanese and Chinese merchants who flocked here for the local silks.

Plenty of the old merchant houses have been opened to the public, so you can get a taste of these times. The best is 17th-century Tan Ky House, with fascinating architectural and decorative elements. Hoi An's major symbol is the delightful Japanese Bridge at the western end of Tran Phu Street, while nearby, the Assembly Hall of the Fujian Chinese Congregation is the old town's most highly decorated temple.

There are numerous small pagodas and museums dotted about town, but Hoi An's true charm is found in simply rambling the old town streets admiring the well-preserved facades.
