Kaziranga-Home to Great Indian one horned rhinoceros

Kaziranga is of sheer forest, tall elephant grass, rugged reeds, marshes & shallow pools. It has been declared as National Park in 1974. It is India's biggest bio-diversity treasure, and a UNESCO's world heritage site. A visit to Kaziranga National Park is in the bucket list of almost every Indian.

The One-Horned rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian elephant, wild water buffalo and swamp deer are collectively known as 'Big Five' of Kaziranga. Kaziranga is one of the few wild breeding areas outside Africa for multiple species of large cats, such as Bengal tigers and leopards. One should avoid visiting here during the monsoon season as this is when the water of the Brahmaputra River floods the park. Also, the park remains closed for visitors from 1st May to 31st October. Near Kohora and Bagori zone of the Kaziranga National Park, tourists will be able to find best places to stay; some of which are Government run lodges while other are private accommodations and camps.
