Food tourism is the activity of traveling in order to find great food and related culinary activities. It can be a simple act of tasting local food in a new destination or learning to cook a new dish. Other activities like wine tasting, tea tasting, farm trips also fall in this category.

The National Capital Region is on everyone’s bucket list for travel, mainly because of its cosmopolitan vibe and Mughal-era architecture. Here, in Delhi, you will find food luring you from all corners, whether you are in Old Delhi or New Delhi. Head over to Old Delhi if you want a taste of the Mughal era, at restaurants such as Karim’s and Al Jawahar. Kebabs and biryanis galore, this is a paradise for food lovers. New Delhi, too, has numerous options for world cuisine, and you pretty much get any Indian cuisine that you can think of. You must head to Delhi Haat to get a culinary insight into other Indian states.

The commercial capital of India, Mumbai, is one of the main attractions of India, not to forget its glamorous side. In Mumbai, you can expect a whole range of different food, taste that would stick differently. There is the famed vada pav, which is a burst of flavours; and, if you are fan of seafood, do not forget to try Maharashtrian seafood. Mumbai is also known for its incredible Parsi food and that is something that you need to try, because it is rare to find.

If you think you know Indian cuisine, Kochi is there to change your perception. Kerala cuisine is all about wonderful non-vegetarian and vegetarian foods, most of which are spicy and alarmingly tasty. If you think you have had all types of biryani, try the Malabar biryani, also try fish moileeappam, and the ultimate Kerala thalisadya. Kerala also has a healthy dose of vadadosa, and the rest of the mainstream South Indian foods, so you really have a range of food to choose from.

Mawlynnong has earned a reputation for being one of the cleanest villages in Asia, but a sobriquet that does more justice is that of God’s Own Garden. The fruit orchards, the rushing streams, the evergreen surroundings, the swaying palms, and the well-preserved traditions of the Khasis provide a picture-perfect stage on the edge of Meghalaya’s southern ranges.

Arguably the most famous icon of Meghalaya is found here – the Nohwet Living Root Bridge. The bridge was created by weaving the roots of the Ficus Elastica tree around a framework and continuing this process for generations. These living root bridges are a staple of Khasi traditional architecture and were important for the villages in the steep valleys and mountains, helping the people connect with each other and travel to the plains to trade. These fascinating bridges are built in harmony with nature and get stronger as they grow older. After admiring the bridge, you can also take a dip in the gushing, cool waters of the river.

Amsterdam is well known as one of the most bicycle-friendly cities, with high levels of bicycle infrastructure, planning and funding, tourism — as well as high levels of bike theft, safety concerns and overcrowding in places.

Cyclists rule in Amsterdam and great pains have been taken to accommodate them: the city is equipped with an elaborate network of cycle-paths and lanes, so safe and comfortable that even toddlers and elderly people use bikes as the easiest mode of transport. It’s not only Amsterdam which boasts a network of cycle-paths, of course; you’ll find them in all Dutch cities.

The Dutch take this for granted; they even tend to believe these cycle-paths have existed since the beginning of time. But that is certainly not the case. There was a time, in the 1950s and 60s, when cyclists were under severe threat of being expelled from Dutch cities by the growing number of cars. Only thanks to fierce activism and a number of decisive events would Amsterdam succeed in becoming what it is, unquestionably, now: the bicycle capital of the world.

India is a vast country. Hundreds of traditions, schools of thoughts, cultures and diverse topography have made it nearly impossible to condense its identity in a brisk clause. Its vastness is such that you never travel through it enough. There are always some colossal sceneries, monuments or spots that are left unexplored either because it is difficult to reach there or because it has lost its glory to natural calamities or invasions.

Surrounded by snow-capped mountains of Himalayas, Gurez Valley is a beautiful place located 2,400 metres above the sea level. It is 123km from Srinagar. Gurez Valley is divided into 15 small villages, Dawar being the main town of the valley. Because of its high altitude, the valley receives heavy snowfall and loses its connectivity to the outside world for almost half of the year. The most minimal human invasion has rendered the place with immense scenic beauty. Kishanganga River flows through the heart of the valley and enhances its beauty. The valley’s richness in fauna and flora is another giving of nature’s bounty. The place is nothing but a slice of heaven capable of enchanting its beholders.
